The following would be very much welcome, in my opinion, if this got passed. A ban on the use of cell phones while driving would be another law that would be welcomed.
Alabama motorists convicted four times within two years of text messaging while driving could lose their driver's license, under a proposal by a Springville legislator.
"The issue here is distraction," said state Rep. Jim McClendon, R-Springville. "A person texting is using one or both hands, and he has got to look at what he is doing. So a person is losing both hands and his eyes while operating a motor vehicle. It doesn't get much worse than that."
